This easy and healthy 10-minute blueberry chia jam combines frozen blueberries, natural maple syrup, and chia seeds to create a deliciously thick and fruity spread perfect for toast, yogurt, or desserts. Ready quickly on the stovetop, it’s a wholesome alternative to traditional jams with no added refined sugars.

  • Total Time: 12 minutes
  • Yield: 1 cup (approximately 1 serving)

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen blueberries (or any other frozen berry)
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons chia seeds

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients and Boil: In a medium pot over high heat, combine the frozen blueberries, maple syrup, and lemon juice. Bring the mixture to a boil and let it cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the blueberries have burst and the mixture has a saucy consistency.
  2. Add Chia Seeds and Thicken: Stir in the chia seeds and continue to cook the jam for 1 more minute. Then remove the pot from heat and allow the jam to cool so that it thickens further before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute frozen blueberries with any frozen berries of your choice.
  • Let the jam cool completely to reach optimal thickness as chia seeds absorb liquid and gel as it cools.
  • Store the jam in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  • Use the jam as a spread, topping for yogurt, pancakes, or oatmeal.
  • If you prefer a sweeter jam, adjust the maple syrup quantity to taste.
