This simple 3 Ingredient Panna Cotta is a smooth, creamy, and dairy-free dessert made with coconut milk, sugar, and cornstarch. Perfect for a quick yet elegant treat, it sets in the fridge and can be garnished with fresh berries or jam for an extra burst of flavor.

  • Total Time: 3 hours 10 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (16 fl oz) unsweetened drinking coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated white sugar
  • 3 tbsp (25g) cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a small saucepan, whisk together the coconut milk, sugar, and cornstarch until the mixture is smooth and evenly combined with no lumps.
  2. Cook Mixture: Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook the mixture, whisking every few seconds to prevent it from sticking to the bottom, until it thickens and starts to bubble—this usually takes about 4 to 5 minutes. Initially, the mixture will be quite thin and will thicken only near the end of cooking.
  3. Set the Panna Cotta: Remove the saucepan from heat and pour the thickened mixture into ramekins or heatproof small cups or molds. Allow them to cool slightly before covering and transferring to the fridge to set. The panna cotta should set within about 3 hours, though overnight setting works well too.
  4. Unmold and Serve: Once set, carefully flip the ramekins upside down onto small plates to release the panna cotta. Garnish with fresh berries or jam if desired before serving.
  5. Storage: Any uneaten panna cotta can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Notes

  • Make sure to whisk continuously while cooking to prevent lumps and sticking.
  • The coconut milk should be unsweetened to control sweetness in the dessert.
  • The setting time may vary depending on the size of the molds used.
  • You can customize the garnish with fresh fruits, jams, or sauces of your choice.
  • For a firmer texture, you may adjust cornstarch slightly, but this recipe balances creaminess and set perfectly.
