Ingredients
Ingredients
- 16 ounces frozen strawberries (thawed)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, add the thawed strawberries, granulated sugar, and water. Stir to mix all the ingredients evenly.
- Heat to Boil: Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Simmer: Lower the heat to medium-low and let the sauce simmer uncovered for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally to allow the sauce to thicken and reduce.
- Mash Strawberries: About halfway through cooking, use a potato masher to gently mash the strawberries, breaking them down to release juices and create a smoother sauce. Alternatively, before cooking, you can crush the thawed strawberries in the bag with your hands.
- Serve Warm or Cold: Once thickened to your liking, remove from heat and serve the strawberry sauce warm or chill it in the refrigerator before serving cold.
Notes
- The sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- Adjust sweetness by adding more or less sugar according to taste.
- For a chunkier sauce, mash less; for a smoother sauce, mash more thoroughly.
- Perfect topping for ice cream, pancakes, waffles, cheesecake, or yogurt.
