Ingredients
Potatoes
- 2 russet potatoes, sliced into 1/4-inch sticks
Seasoning and Oil
- Extra-virgin olive oil, for drizzling
- Sea salt, to taste
Optional Seasonings & Dips
- Fresh herbs (such as parsley or rosemary)
- Chili powder or chipotle powder
- Ketchup
- Mustard
- Mayonnaise
- Chipotle sauce
Instructions
- Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 380°F (193°C) and allow it to preheat while you prepare the potatoes.
- Prepare the Potatoes: Drizzle the sliced potatoes with extra-virgin olive oil and sprinkle sea salt on top. Toss thoroughly to ensure an even coating of oil and salt on all potato sticks.
- Air Fry the Potatoes in Batches: Place the potatoes in the air fryer basket in a single layer without overlapping, which may require multiple batches. Air fry each batch for 12 to 15 minutes, flipping the fries halfway through the cooking time, until they are golden and crispy. If needed, extend cooking time slightly to achieve desired crispness.
- Re-Crisp and Warm Fries: After all batches are cooked, combine all fries back into the air fryer basket (this time, they don’t need to be in a single layer) and air fry for an additional 1 to 2 minutes. This step warms the fries again and re-crisps any that may have softened during the initial batch cooking.
- Serve: Serve the fries hot with your choice of fresh herbs, spices like chili or chipotle powder, and dipping sauces such as ketchup, mustard, mayo, or chipotle sauce.
Notes
- For best results, cut the potatoes evenly into 1/4-inch sticks to ensure uniform cooking.
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket when cooking to allow proper air circulation and crisping.
- If you prefer extra crispy fries, you can increase the air frying time incrementally in 2-minute intervals.
- Using russet potatoes gives the fries a fluffy interior and crispy exterior.
- Experiment with different herbs and spices according to your taste preferences.
