Ingredients
French Toast Sticks
- 4 slices brioche bread or Texas Toast
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Slice the Bread: Take each slice of brioche or Texas Toast and cut it into thirds to create uniform sticks for frying.
- Prepare the Egg Mixture: In a dish with walls or a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract thoroughly until well combined.
- Mix Cinnamon Sugar: On a plate, combine the sugar and cinnamon, mixing them evenly to create the cinnamon sugar coating.
- Dip the Bread: Quickly dip each bread stick into the egg mixture, coating both sides without soaking. Then either dip the bread stick in the cinnamon sugar mixture or sprinkle the mixture onto both sides.
- Arrange in Air Fryer: Place the coated bread sticks on the air fryer tray in a single layer with space between each stick to ensure proper airflow. Depending on your air fryer size, work in 2-3 batches.
- Air Fry: Set the air fryer to 350°F and cook the sticks for 6-8 minutes until golden and crisp, flipping halfway if desired.
- Serve: Serve the French toast sticks warm with maple syrup, a dusting of powdered sugar, or enjoy plain as a sweet treat.
Notes
- Use brioche or Texas Toast for the best texture and flavor, but any sturdy bread can work.
- Do not soak the bread sticks in the egg mixture to avoid sogginess; a quick dip is sufficient.
- Cook in batches if your air fryer tray has limited space to ensure even cooking.
- Feel free to customize the cinnamon sugar amount to taste or add nutmeg for extra flavor.
- Serve immediately for the crispiest texture; they can be reheated briefly in the air fryer if needed.
