Ingredients
Base Layer
- 1/2 cup graham cracker crumbs
- 1 1/2 cup rolled oats (regular)
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
Toppings
- 1 cup toffee bits
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1 cup almonds (sliced)
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk (about 14 oz)
Instructions
- Prepare the baking pan: Line an 8" x 8" square baking pan with parchment paper and spray the parchment with cooking spray to ensure easy removal of the bars later. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to get it ready for baking.
- Make the base mixture: In a medium bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, rolled oats, and salt. Stir in the melted unsalted butter thoroughly until the mixture is evenly combined and slightly crumbly but sticks together when pressed.
- Form the base layer: Press the oat and graham cracker mixture firmly and evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan to create a solid base for the bars.
- Add the toffee bits layer: Sprinkle the 1 cup of toffee bits evenly over the pressed base to add a sweet, crunchy texture.
- Add the chocolate chips: Evenly distribute the milk chocolate chips over the toffee bits, creating a rich, melty layer of chocolate.
- Add the almonds: Sprinkle the sliced almonds over the chocolate chips for a nutty and crunchy contrast in every bite.
- Pour the sweetened condensed milk: Slowly pour the can of sweetened condensed milk evenly over all the layers, ensuring it seeps down to bind all ingredients during baking.
- Bake the bars: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 30 to 32 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbling slightly.
- Cool completely: Remove the pan from the oven and allow the bars to cool for several hours at room temperature, or until fully set, to make cutting easier and prevent crumbling.
- Serve and enjoy: Once cooled and firm, lift the bars out using the parchment paper, cut into 12 squares, and enjoy this delightful treat.
Notes
- Make sure to cool the bars completely for the best texture and ease when cutting.
- If you prefer a different nut, feel free to substitute almonds with pecans or walnuts.
- Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for longer freshness.
- For a firmer bar, chill them after cooling before serving.
- Use unsalted butter to control the overall saltiness of the bars.
