Ingredients
Peaches
- 6 ripe but firm peaches, halved and pitted (skin on)
Sauce
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ⅛ teaspoon ginger
- Pinch of salt
For Serving
- Vanilla ice cream (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F to prepare it for baking the peaches.
- Prepare Sauce: In an 8x11-inch baking dish, whisk together the melted butter, honey, vanilla extract, cinnamon, ginger, and a pinch of salt until well combined to create a flavorful coating for the peaches.
- Coat Peaches: Add the peach halves to the baking dish and gently turn them around so they are evenly coated with the butter mixture. Arrange the peaches cut side up and spoon some of the sauce into the crevices of each peach half to infuse maximum flavor.
- Bake Covered: Cover the baking dish loosely with foil and place it in the oven. Bake for 20 minutes to allow the peaches to soften and absorb the sauce.
- Bake Uncovered: Remove the foil and continue baking the peaches uncovered for an additional 10–15 minutes. This step helps the peaches become fork-tender and encourages caramelization around the edges, adding a lovely texture and sweetness.
- Serve: Serve the baked peaches warm, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired, to enhance the dessert with creamy richness.
Notes
- Use ripe but firm peaches to ensure they hold their shape during baking.
- The honey and spices create a natural sweetness, so additional sugar is not necessary.
- For a dairy-free version, substitute the butter with coconut oil and serve with dairy-free ice cream.
- Peaches can be baked a little longer if you prefer them softer.
- If you want a more caramelized top, broil for 1–2 minutes after baking, watching closely to prevent burning.
