Ingredients
Dairy & Seasonings
- 8 oz soft unripened goat cheese (or softened cream cheese)
- 1/2 cup sour cream (or paleo mayo)
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp sriracha
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
Seafood
- 2 cans (6 oz each) crab meat, squeezed dry
- 1 cup finely chopped cooked shrimp, patted dry
Cheeses & Herbs
- 1/2 cup grated mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 green onion, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp finely chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the dip.
- Mix Base Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the goat cheese (or softened cream cheese), sour cream (or mayo), Dijon mustard, sriracha, onion powder, and garlic powder until smooth and creamy.
- Add Seafood and Cheese: Gently fold in the crab meat, chopped shrimp, green onion, parsley, and all but a handful of the grated cheeses using a rubber spatula, taking care to combine evenly without breaking up the seafood.
- Prepare for Baking: Transfer the mixture into an oven-safe dish, sprinkle the reserved cheese on top to create a golden crust during baking.
- Bake the Dip: Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the dip is bubbly on the sides and the top has turned a golden, appetizing brown.
- Rest and Serve: Remove the dish from the oven and let it rest for 10 to 15 minutes to set. Garnish with additional parsley and a cooked shrimp if desired, then serve warm with sliced crusted bread, crackers, or fresh crudités.
Notes
- Make sure to squeeze dry the canned crab meat to avoid excess moisture which can make the dip watery.
- Use fresh cooked shrimp for best flavor and texture; pat dry to keep the dip thick.
- You can substitute goat cheese with cream cheese for a milder flavor.
- Sriracha can be adjusted or omitted depending on your spice preference.
- Allowing the dip to rest after baking helps it firm up and makes it easier to serve.
- Serve the dip warm to enjoy the full melty cheesy texture and rich seafood taste.
