Ingredients
For the Chicken Patties
- 0.5 pound ground chicken breasts
- 0.5 pound ground dark chicken meat
- ½ cup plain breadcrumbs
- 1 tablespoon light mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon dried parsley
- ½ teaspoon Italian herbs
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon neutral oil
For the Burger Assembly
- 4 burger buns
- 2 tomatoes, sliced
- 1 red onion, thinly sliced
- 4 large lettuce leaves
- Mayonnaise as desired
Instructions
- Combine the patty ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine ground chicken breasts, ground dark chicken meat, plain breadcrumbs, light mayonnaise, dried parsley, Italian herbs, garlic powder, and paprika. Season the mixture with salt and pepper according to your taste, and mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Shape the patties: Divide the chicken mixture into four equal portions and shape into patties about ½-inch thick. Press your thumb gently into the center of each patty to create a small indent; this helps prevent the patties from puffing up while cooking.
- Cook the chicken patties: Heat neutral oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chicken patties to the skillet. Cook for about 5 minutes on one side without moving them to achieve a golden brown crust.
- Flip and finish cooking: Flip the patties carefully and continue cooking for another 5 minutes or until they are fully cooked through. Ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) to guarantee safety and juiciness.
- Assemble the burgers: Spread mayonnaise on the cut sides of the burger buns as desired. Place each cooked chicken patty on the bottom half of the bun, then layer with sliced tomatoes, lettuce leaves, and red onion slices. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve warm: Serve the assembled chicken burgers immediately while warm for best texture and flavor.
Notes
- Using a mix of ground chicken breast and dark meat keeps the patties juicy and flavorful.
- The thumb indent helps the patties cook evenly and prevents them from puffing up.
- Check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer to avoid undercooking.
- You can customize toppings with cheese, pickles, or your favorite sauces for variety.
- Serve with your choice of sides like fries or salad for a complete meal.
