Chili Shrimp and Avocado Crostini combines spicy, juicy shrimp with creamy avocado spread on crispy toasted baguette slices, creating a perfect appetizer or light snack that’s quick to prepare and packed with vibrant flavors.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings

Ingredients

Shrimp Seasoning

  • 12 raw large shrimp (shelled and deveined)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika

Crostini & Toppings

  • 12 slices of baguette
  • 12 tablespoons Simply Avocado Sea Salt Dip & Spread
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil (plus more for toasting bread)
  • Chives (finely chopped, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to broil at 500 degrees Fahrenheit, getting it ready to toast the baguette slices to a perfect golden brown.
  2. Toast Baguette Slices: Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet and lightly spray or brush them with olive oil. Place under the broiler for a few minutes until they turn lightly golden and crispy. Remove and set aside to cool.
  3. Season Shrimp: In a small mixing bowl, add the raw shrimp and sprinkle with chili powder, garlic powder, ground cumin, sea salt, and smoked paprika. Toss thoroughly to evenly coat every shrimp with the seasoning mix.
  4. Cook Shrimp: Heat 2 teaspoons of olive oil in a large sauté pan over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned shrimp to the pan and cook, flipping frequently, until the shrimp are bright pink, opaque, and cooked through, about 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat.
  5. Assemble Crostini: Spread 1 tablespoon of Simply Avocado Sea Salt Dip & Spread on each cooled baguette slice evenly.
  6. Add Shrimp and Garnish: Place one cooked shrimp on top of each avocado-covered crostini. Sprinkle finely chopped chives over the top as garnish.
  7. Serve: Serve immediately to enjoy the crisp texture of the crostini paired with creamy avocado and spicy shrimp.

Notes

  • You can substitute baguette slices with other types of sturdy bread if desired.
  • If you prefer less heat, adjust the chili powder amount to taste.
  • The shrimp cook quickly; avoid overcooking to keep them juicy and tender.
  • For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free bread slices.
  • Chilling the avocado spread before serving will help keep the crostini fresh if preparing in advance.
