Christmas Tree Cake Truffles are a festive, no-bake dessert featuring Little Debbie Christmas tree cakes mixed with cream cheese, then dipped in melted white chocolate and decorated with red drizzle and green sanding sugar. These bite-sized treats are easy to make, perfect for holiday gatherings, and sure to impress with their delightful flavor and charming appearance.

  • Total Time: 45 mins
  • Yield: 24 truffles

Ingredients

Truffles

  • 10 vanilla Little Debbie Christmas tree cakes
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened

Coating & Decoration

  • 12 oz almond bark or white chocolate candy melts
  • Red food coloring
  • Green sanding sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare baking sheet: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside to keep the truffles from sticking and to allow the coating to set.
  2. Crumble cakes: Place the 10 Christmas tree cakes into a large mixing bowl and crumble them thoroughly into fine crumbs.
  3. Mix with cream cheese: Add the softened 4 oz cream cheese to the cake crumbs, then use a hand mixer to beat the mixture until a uniform dough-like consistency forms.
  4. Shape truffles: Using a small cookie scoop, portion tablespoon-sized amounts of the mixture, then roll each into smooth balls with your hands. Arrange the balls on the prepared baking sheet, then freeze for 30 minutes until firm. Once firm, roll them again between your palms for a smoother finish if desired.
  5. Melt white chocolate: Place the 12 oz almond bark or white chocolate candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl, heat them in short 30-second intervals, stirring between each until fully melted and smooth.
  6. Dip truffles: Using a fork, dip each cake ball into the melted white chocolate, allowing any excess to drip off before placing them back onto the parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
  7. Prepare drizzle: Add red food coloring a few drops at a time to some of the remaining melted chocolate until the desired red color is achieved. Use a fork or a piping bag to drizzle the red chocolate over the coated truffles.
  8. Decorate with sanding sugar: Immediately sprinkle green sanding sugar over the red drizzle before it sets to create a festive look resembling a decorated Christmas tree.
  9. Set and serve: Allow the truffles to fully set at room temperature or refrigerate briefly before serving.

Notes

  • Freezing the truffle balls before dipping helps them hold their shape better and results in a smoother finish.
  • Use a hand mixer to ensure the cake and cream cheese are fully combined for the best texture.
  • You can substitute white chocolate candy melts with any white chocolate of your choice.
  • Adjust the amount of red food coloring gradually to avoid over-coloring the drizzle.
  • Store truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
