Ingredients
Crab Filling
- 3 - 4 cups (about 14 - 16 oz.) finely chopped imitation crab meat
- 1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese, softened
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 3 green onions, chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
Crescent Rolls
- 2 packages crescent rolls
Instructions
- Prepare the crab filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, chopped green onions, salt, and pepper. Stir these ingredients together thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
- Add the crab meat: Fold the finely chopped imitation crab meat into the cream cheese mixture carefully, ensuring everything is evenly combined without breaking up the crab pieces too much.
- Assemble the base layer: Unroll one package of crescent rolls and spread it out on a baking sheet. Gently press the seams together with your fingers to seal all gaps, creating a solid dough layer. Evenly spread the crab filling over this dough, leaving approximately a 1/2-inch border around the edges free.
- Add the top crescent layer: Unroll the second package of crescent rolls and lay it carefully over the crab mixture. Press the edges and seams together to seal the filling inside, forming a neat package.
- Bake the crescent bites: Place the baking sheet into a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C). Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, or until the crescent roll dough turns a beautiful golden brown color.
- Cut and serve: Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly. Cut the baked crescent into small squares using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, then serve warm as an irresistible party snack or appetizer.
Notes
- For best results, make sure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature before mixing to avoid lumps.
- Feel free to use real crab meat for a more authentic seafood flavor, adjusting the quantity accordingly.
- You can customize by adding a pinch of Old Bay seasoning or finely chopped bell peppers to the filling for extra flavor and color.
- Serve with a side of cocktail sauce or a spicy aioli for dipping if desired.
- These bites can be prepared ahead of time assembled and refrigerated, then baked fresh before serving.
