Ingredients
Fish Sliders
- 9-12 pieces breaded fish burgers or fish filets (store bought or homemade, quantity varies by size)
- 12 slider buns or dinner rolls
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- 12 slices American cheese (or cheddar cheese slices)
Tartar Sauce
- 3/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup sweet relish (or finely minced pickles, dill or sweet)
- 1/2 tbsp dried dill (if using regular relish or diced dill pickles, use only 1/4 tbsp dried dill)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two sheet pans with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
- Bake Fish: Place the breaded fish burgers or fish filets on one of the prepared sheet pans. Bake them in the preheated oven following the package or recipe directions until cooked through and crispy.
- Prepare Tartar Sauce: While the fish bakes, mix mayonnaise, sweet relish, lemon juice, and dried dill in a small bowl until smooth. Chill the tartar sauce in the refrigerator to let the flavors meld.
- Heat Slider Buns: Place the slider buns on the second sheet pan. Brush the tops with melted butter and warm them in the oven for 2-3 minutes, until slightly toasted.
- Slice Buns: Remove the warmed buns from the oven and carefully slice them horizontally through the center. Set the tops aside.
- Assemble Slider Bottoms: Lay a slice of American cheese on each bottom half of the buns.
- Add Cooked Fish: Place a cooked fish filet or burger on top of each cheese slice.
- Top with Tartar Sauce: Evenly spoon the chilled tartar sauce over the fish on each slider.
- Complete Assembly: Place the bun tops back onto each slider, completing the sandwiches.
- Serve: Slice sliders if desired and serve immediately for best taste and texture. Enjoy your homemade Filet-O-Fish Sliders!
Notes
- You can substitute cheddar cheese for the traditional American cheese if preferred.
- Dried dill amount should be adjusted based on the type of relish or pickles used to avoid overpowering flavors.
- Use slider buns or dinner rolls to keep the burgers compact and easy to handle.
- For a crispier fish, broil for a minute or two after baking, watching carefully to prevent burning.
- Leftover tartar sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
