A quick and flavorful Ginger Sesame Ground Chicken Stir Fry featuring tender ground chicken and crisp vegetables tossed in a savory ginger-sesame sauce, perfect for a healthy weeknight meal.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

Meat

  • 2 pounds ground chicken

Vegetables

  • 1 red bell pepper, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/2 pound broccoli, cut into small florets
  • 1 red onion, roughly chopped

Sauce and Seasonings

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger (or 1 teaspoon ground ginger)
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water

Garnish

  • Sesame seeds
  • Chopped green onion

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Stir Fry Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, minced ginger, and sriracha (if using). Then, mix the cornstarch and water until the cornstarch dissolves and whisk this slurry into the soy mixture to create a smooth stir fry sauce.
  2. Heat the Skillet: Place a large, high-sided skillet over medium-high heat and allow it to become hot before adding ingredients.
  3. Cook the Ground Chicken: Add the ground chicken to the hot skillet. Break apart the meat as it cooks, stirring frequently until the chicken is fully cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F. Remove the cooked chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Sauté the Vegetables: Add the sesame oil to the same skillet, then add the chopped red bell pepper, shredded carrots, broccoli florets, and red onion. Stir occasionally and cook for 4-6 minutes, or until the vegetables become tender but still retain some crispness.
  5. Combine and Thicken: Return the cooked ground chicken to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour the prepared stir fry sauce over the mixture and toss to evenly coat. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring, until the sauce thickens and glazes the ingredients.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Remove the skillet from heat. Garnish the stir fry with chopped green onions and sesame seeds as desired, then serve hot.

Notes

  • For a spicier dish, increase the amount of sriracha according to your taste preference.
  • You can substitute ground chicken with ground turkey or lean pork if preferred.
  • If soy sauce is a concern, use a low-sodium variety to reduce sodium content.
  • Serve over steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.
  • Make sure not to overcook the vegetables to maintain their crunch and nutrients.
