A refreshing and easy-to-make herbal iced tea recipe that combines your favorite herbal tea with ice and optional fresh herbs and fruit for a delightful cold beverage perfect for warm days or anytime you need a cool, flavorful drink.

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings

Ingredients

Tea and Water

  • 1-2 herbal tea bag(s) (your favorite)
  • 4 cups filtered water (1 cup for boiling + 3 cups cold)

Ice

  • 3-6 ice cubes (or more, depending on size)
  • Optional: Edible Flower Ice Cubes
  • Optional: Blood Orange Ice Cubes

Flavor Enhancers (Optional)

  • Fresh herbs like basil, mint, rosemary
  • Fresh fruit such as berries, mango, watermelon, or pineapple

Instructions

  1. Boil: In a tea kettle, bring at least one cup of filtered water to a rolling boil to prepare for steeping the tea.
  2. Steep: Place one or two herbal tea bags in a heat-resistant container like a liquid measuring cup or mug. Pour the boiling water over the tea bags and steep for approximately 5 minutes, or according to the specific instructions on your tea package, allowing the flavor to infuse thoroughly.
  3. Prepare Ice: In a pitcher with a capacity of at least 4 cups (1 quart/liter), add 3 to 6 ice cubes depending on their size, or more if you prefer your tea very cold. You may use decorative ice cubes, such as edible flower or blood orange ice cubes, for enhanced presentation and flavor.
  4. Combine: Add three cups of cold filtered water to the pitcher over the ice. Once the tea has finished steeping, remove the tea bags and carefully pour the steeped tea into the pitcher containing the ice and water mixture.
  5. Serve and Store: Serve the iced tea immediately or keep it chilled in the refrigerator for up to two days. Adding additional ice over time can be done, but be aware that it may slightly dilute the flavor and alter the color of your tea. Optional fresh herbs and fruit can be added directly to the pitcher for enhanced aroma and taste.

Notes

  • Adjust the number of tea bags and steeping time according to how strong you prefer your iced tea.
  • To keep your tea flavorful, avoid adding too much ice at once, as melting ice can dilute the drink.
  • Use filtered water for the best taste.
  • Decorative ice cubes enhance both presentation and flavor but are optional.
  • Store iced tea in the fridge and consume within 2 days for optimal freshness.
