This Homemade Tea with Rose and Dried Fruit is a fragrant and delightful herbal blend made from dehydrated apples, oranges, strawberries, white tea, and dried rose petals. The recipe guides you through drying fresh fruit slices to preserve their natural sweetness and combining them with white tea and optional herbs. Perfect for a calming and flavorful beverage, it offers a unique, refreshing way to enjoy tea with natural fruit essences and floral notes.

  • Total Time: 6 hours 20 minutes to 8 hours 20 minutes
  • Yield: Approximately 60 servings

Ingredients

Fresh Fruit for Dehydrating

  • 1 ½ lbs fresh apples
  • 1 ½ lbs fresh oranges
  • 1 ½ lbs fresh strawberries

Dried Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups dried orange slices (organic)
  • 1 ½ cups dried apple slices (organic)
  • 1 ½ cups dried strawberry slices (organic)
  • 1 ½ cups dried rose petals (organic)
  • 2 cups white tea leaves
  • ½ cup dried herbs (optional: absinthium/wormwood, mint, or your choice)

Instructions

  1. Dried Fruit Preparation: Thoroughly scrub the surface of the oranges and apples using a vegetable brush to remove any dirt and rinse well. Wash the strawberries carefully and drain excess water. Dry all fruit surfaces gently with paper towels to remove moisture before slicing.
  2. Slicing the Fruit: Using a mandolin slicer or a sharp knife, slice the fruit crosswise into uniform 1/4-inch thick slices while retaining the peel. Discard the uneven end slices to ensure consistent drying.
  3. Arranging for Dehydration: Place the fruit slices evenly on the trays of a food dehydrator. Stack the trays properly in the dehydrator to maximize airflow and even drying.
  4. Dehydrating the Fruit: Turn on the food dehydrator and let the fruit dry until the centers are completely dry and crisp. This process usually takes between six to eight hours or more depending on the number of trays and thickness of slices. Rotate or switch the order of trays during drying to ensure uniform dehydration.
  5. Breaking Dried Fruit: Once dried thoroughly, remove the fruit slices from the dehydrator and break them into smaller pieces suitable for tea blending.
  6. Preparing the Tea Blend: Combine the dried fruit pieces, white tea leaves, dried rose petals, and optional dried herbs in the suggested ratio or to taste to create your homemade tea blend.
  7. Brewing the Tea: Heat water until hot but not boiling to avoid bitterness from oversteeping. Use 2 tablespoons of the tea blend per one cup of hot water. Steep the tea for 7 to 10 minutes to extract rich flavors, especially since white tea can steep longer than black tea.
  8. Serving: Pour the steeped tea into cups and enjoy hot, savoring the delicate aroma of fruit and rose petals infused with white tea.

Notes

  • Use only organic fruits and dried ingredients for the best flavor and health benefits.
  • Adjust the amount of tea blend according to your taste preference for a stronger or milder brew.
  • Rotating trays during dehydration is crucial to ensure even drying and prevent mold.
  • Do not use boiling water when steeping white tea to avoid bitterness.
  • You may customize the herbal blend by adding other aromatic dried herbs like mint or wormwood.
  • Store the tea blend in an airtight container away from direct sunlight to preserve freshness.
  • Homemade dried fruits can also be enjoyed as snacks or added to other recipes.
