Million Dollar Baked Spaghetti is a hearty, comforting casserole featuring layers of al dente spaghetti, savory ground beef in rich spaghetti sauce, creamy ricotta and cream cheese blend, and melted mozzarella. This baked pasta dish brings a delicious twist to traditional spaghetti, perfect for family dinners and gatherings.

  • Total Time: 55 minutes
  • Yield: 10 servings

Ingredients

Spaghetti and Meat Sauce

  • 16 ounces dried spaghetti
  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 45 ounces spaghetti sauce (1 large jar or 2 small jars)

Cheese Mixture

  • 8 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Garnish

  • Freshly chopped parsley

Instructions

  1. Cook Spaghetti: Boil the spaghetti noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain the noodles thoroughly and set them aside to cool slightly.
  2. Prepare Meat Sauce: While the pasta cooks, heat a skillet over medium heat and brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat, then stir in the spaghetti sauce until well combined. Keep warm.
  3. Make Cheese Mixture: In a medium bowl, blend together the ricotta cheese, softened cream cheese, sour cream, and Italian seasoning. Mix until the mixture is smooth and evenly combined.
  4. Layer the Casserole: Preheat your oven to 375˚F (190˚C). In a 9x13 inch casserole dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Layer half of the cooked spaghetti noodles over the sauce. Spread half of the meat sauce on top of the noodles, followed by half of the cheese mixture, and then half of the shredded mozzarella. Repeat the layering with the remaining noodles, meat sauce, cheese mixture, and mozzarella.
  5. Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the edges are bubbly and the casserole is heated through.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley. Serve warm and enjoy your comforting baked spaghetti.

Notes

  • For best flavor, use a good quality spaghetti sauce.
  • You can swap ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
  • Let the casserole rest for 5-10 minutes after baking before serving to set layers.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
  • To reduce fat, use low-fat cheeses and lean ground beef.
