This No-Bake Strawberry Blueberry Trifle is a refreshing and elegant dessert perfect for any occasion. Layered with moist angel food cake soaked in a tangy lemon syrup, luscious homemade cream cheese whipped cream, and fresh berries, this trifle combines light, fluffy textures with vibrant fruity flavors for a delightful treat that requires no baking and comes together in just 30 minutes.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings

Ingredients

For Lemon Syrup

  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 2 Tbsp lemon juice (from 1/2 medium lemon)

For Cream Cheese Whipped Cream

  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened at room temperature
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Other Ingredients

  • 17 oz angel food cake, cut into 1" cubes (about 1 1/2 blocks)
  • 1 lb strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 lb blueberries
  • 4 or 5 quart trifle dish (or a 9x13 casserole dish)

Instructions

  1. Make the Lemon Syrup: In a measuring cup, combine 1/4 cup water, 2 tablespoons sugar, and 2 tablespoons lemon juice. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely. Set aside to use later for soaking the cake layers.
  2. Prepare the Trifle Cream: Using a mixer with a whisk attachment, beat 16 ounces of softened cream cheese and 3/4 cup sugar on medium speed until the mixture is creamy and smooth, scraping down the bowl as needed. While the mixer is running, slowly pour in 2 cups heavy whipping cream. Increase the mixer speed to medium/high and beat until the mixture becomes whipped and fluffy. Add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract and beat just until fully incorporated.
  3. Assemble the Berry Trifle: Place one-third of the cubed angel food cake at the bottom of the trifle dish. Brush generously with one-third of the lemon syrup to moisten the cake. Spread one-third of the cream cheese whipped cream evenly over the cake pieces. Add half of the sliced strawberries on top. For the second cake layer, repeat the steps by adding another one-third of cake cubes, brushing with syrup, one-third of the cream, and half of the blueberries. Finish with the last third of cake cubes, syrup, and cream to frost the top. Decorate the trifle with the remaining strawberries and blueberries for a beautiful presentation.

Notes

  • Use fresh, ripe berries for the best flavor and texture.
  • Angel food cake is naturally light and airy, making it perfect for absorbing the lemon syrup without becoming soggy.
  • You can prepare the lemon syrup and cream mixture a few hours ahead and assemble the trifle just before serving.
  • If you don’t have a trifle dish, a clear glass 9x13 casserole dish works well to show off the layers.
  • Store leftover trifle covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 days for best freshness.
