A simple and nutritious Overnight Oats recipe without yogurt, perfect for a quick and healthy breakfast. This recipe uses rolled oats, milk of choice, chia seeds, and natural sweeteners, offering a creamy and satisfying start to your day. Ready in just a few hours with no cooking required, it’s ideal for busy mornings or on-the-go eating.

  • Total Time: 2 hours 5 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats (use gluten-free if needed)
  • 3/4 cup milk of choice (non-dairy or regular milk)
  • 1-2 tbsp sweetener of choice (maple syrup, honey, etc.)
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • Small pinch of salt (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1/3 cup apple sauce or mashed banana
  • 1 scoop protein powder of choice
  • 1 tbsp tahini or nut butter of choice

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: To a medium bowl, air-tight container, or mason jar, add all of the ingredients including oats, milk, sweetener, chia seeds, salt, vanilla extract, apple sauce or mashed banana, protein powder, and tahini or nut butter.
  2. Mix Thoroughly: Using a spoon or spatula, stir everything well to combine all ingredients evenly. If you'd like, add any additional toppings or mix-ins at this stage.
  3. Refrigerate: Cover the container with a lid or clean kitchen towel, then place it in the fridge. Let the oats soak for at least 2 hours or preferably overnight. This allows the oats and chia seeds to soften and absorb the liquid.
  4. Stir and Adjust Consistency: Before serving, stir the oats once more. If the mixture is too thick, add an extra tablespoon of milk to thin it out. Sweeten further with 1-2 tablespoons more sweetener if desired.

Notes

  • Use gluten-free oats to make the recipe gluten-free.
  • You can substitute milk with any plant-based or dairy milk alternative.
  • Adjust sweetness according to taste preference.
  • Adding protein powder boosts nutritional content, ideal for a post-workout meal.
  • Customize with your favorite fruits, nuts, or seeds as toppings.
  • This recipe is perfect for meal prep and lasts up to 3 days in the refrigerator.
