Ingredients
Peach Syrup
- 3-4 peaches, washed, pitted, and diced (skin on or off as preferred)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup water (from the total 4 ½ cups)
Peach Lemonade
- 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 6 lemons)
- 4 cups cold water
- Ice, to serve
- Fresh peach slices, for garnish
- Fresh lemon slices, for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare Peaches: Wash 3-4 peaches thoroughly, remove the pits, and dice them. You may leave the skin on for more texture and flavor or peel them according to your preference.
- Cook Peach Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine the diced peaches, 1 cup of granulated sugar, and ½ cup of water. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the peaches become soft, the mixture turns syrupy, and the sugar dissolves completely. This should take about 7-8 minutes.
- Blend and Strain Syrup: Remove the saucepan from heat and carefully transfer the peach mixture to a blender or food processor. Secure the lid and cover it with a clean kitchen towel to prevent splatters. Blend until smooth. For a clearer syrup, strain the blended mixture through a fine mesh sieve using a spoon or spatula to press the liquid through. Cover and chill the syrup until ready to use.
- Mix Lemonade: When ready to serve, combine the chilled peach syrup, 1 cup of fresh lemon juice, and 4 cups of cold water in a large pitcher. Stir well to blend all the flavors together.
- Serve and Garnish: Add ice to the pitcher or individual glasses. Garnish with fresh peach slices and lemon slices for an attractive and flavorful presentation. Serve immediately for the best taste.
Notes
- You can adjust the sweetness by altering the amount of sugar according to your taste.
- Peach skin contains nutrients and adds color, but feel free to peel peaches if you prefer a smoother syrup.
- The syrup can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- For a fizzy variation, substitute some or all of the cold water with sparkling water just before serving.
- If fresh peaches are unavailable, frozen peaches thawed and drained can be used.
