Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 16 ounces refrigerated crescent roll dough (2 cans)
- 12 ounces little smokies sausages (1 package)
For Egg Wash and Garnish
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon poppy seeds (optional)
- Fresh rosemary for garnish
- Cherry tomatoes for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside to prepare for baking the wreath.
- Prepare the Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean work surface. Pinch the seams together to seal them so you have 8 rectangles in total.
- Cut the Dough: Cut each dough rectangle in half, making 2 1/2-inch squares (16 squares total). Then cut each square diagonally to create 2 triangles, resulting in 30 triangles in total.
- Wrap the Sausages: Place one little smokies sausage on the corner of each dough triangle. Roll the sausage tightly until you reach the flat end of the triangle. Repeat this until all sausages are wrapped.
- Form the Wreath Shape: Arrange some of the sausage-wrapped dough pieces in a circular pattern on the parchment paper. Stagger the remaining pieces around to complete a wreath, making sure they touch so the wreath holds its shape during baking.
- Apply Egg Wash and Seeds: Beat the egg with a splash of water in a small bowl. Using a pastry brush, gently brush the egg wash over the entire dough surface. Sprinkle poppy seeds evenly over the wreath for added texture and appearance.
- Bake: Bake the wreath in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove the wreath from the oven and transfer it carefully to a cutting board or serving platter. Optionally leave it on parchment. Garnish with fresh rosemary sprigs and cherry tomatoes around the wreath. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- Ensure seams on the crescent dough are well sealed to prevent it from opening during baking.
- The wreath shape holds best when the wrapped sausages are placed touching each other slightly.
- Poppy seeds are optional but add a nice crunch and visual appeal.
- Use a small bowl of dipping sauce like mustard, ketchup, or cheese dip for serving.
