Ingredients
For the Pudding Mixture
- 1 (3.4 oz.) box vanilla instant pudding mix (unprepared)
- 1½ cups cold whole milk
- 1 cup vanilla Greek yogurt or sour cream
For the Layers
- 14 ounces store bought angel food cake (divided)
- 1 (21 oz.) can strawberry pie filling (divided)
- 8 ounces Cool Whip (thawed)
- 3 tablespoons almond slivers
Instructions
- Prepare the pudding mixture. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the vanilla instant pudding mix, cold whole milk, and vanilla Greek yogurt or sour cream until smooth and slightly thickened. Set aside to allow the mixture to begin setting.
- Layer the angel food cake. Cut the angel food cake into 1-inch cubes and evenly layer half of them into the bottom of your baking pan to form the first cake layer.
- Add strawberry pie filling. Spread about two-thirds of the can of strawberry pie filling evenly over the layer of angel food cake to infuse a sweet and fruity flavor.
- Top with remaining angel food cake. Layer the remaining angel food cake cubes over the strawberry filling, creating a sandwich of cake and fruit layers.
- Spread pudding mixture. Evenly spread the prepared vanilla pudding mixture over the top layer of angel food cake, covering the surface completely.
- Apply Cool Whip topping. Spread the thawed Cool Whip over the pudding layer to add a creamy texture and smooth finish.
- Swirl remaining strawberry pie filling. Spoon dollops of the remaining strawberry pie filling on top of the Cool Whip and gently swirl with a spoon for a decorative marbled effect.
- Chill to set. Refrigerate the dessert uncovered for 4 to 6 hours or overnight to allow the layers to settle and flavors to meld. Optionally, tent with aluminum foil to keep it fresh.
- Garnish and serve. Just before serving, sprinkle the dessert with almond slivers for a crunchy contrast and enjoy this refreshing Strawberry Heaven Dessert.
Notes
- For best results, chill the dessert overnight to allow flavors to develop fully.
- You can substitute vanilla Greek yogurt with sour cream based on taste preference.
- Use fresh strawberries and homemade strawberry compote as an alternative to canned pie filling for a fresher flavor.
- Almond slivers add a nice crunch—feel free to toast them lightly for enhanced flavor.
- This dessert is ideal for summer gatherings as it does not require baking and is served chilled.
