Ingredients
- 3.5 ounces good-quality dark chocolate, chopped
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 1/2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup + 1 tablespoon milk (2% or whole milk, divided)
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup of the milk and cornstarch until smooth. Set aside.
- Sift the cocoa powder into a medium bowl, add the sugar, and whisk together to combine. Set aside.
- In a small to medium saucepan, heat the remaining 3/4 cup + 1 tablespoon of milk over medium heat until it begins to boil.
- Reduce heat to low. Slowly whisk in the milk and cornstarch mixture.
- Gradually whisk in the cocoa and sugar mixture until smooth and fully incorporated.
- Add the chopped chocolate and whisk continuously for about 3 minutes, or until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is thick and creamy.
- Serve immediately in mugs. Enjoy warm and rich!
Notes
- Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor and smoothest texture.
- Adjust thickness by increasing or decreasing the cornstarch slightly to suit your preference.
- This drink is best enjoyed immediately while hot and thick, like a dessert in a mug.
- To make it extra indulgent, top with whipped cream or chocolate shavings.
